Locomotive engineers are the life line of this organization, as we cannot run without them! The Billy Jones Wildcat Railroad is looking to add a few locomotive engineers to our roster.
Are you our next engineer? This is what you can expect if you become a BJWRR Locomotive Engineer
Locomotive Engineer / up to 2 shifts a month
Locomotive Engineer shifts vary. Scheduling will be based on volunteer preference, but we do require a minimum of once per month to remain active. Shifts are broken down per season, per engine, per available shift:
Winter Season (November- Mid March): Diesel only.
Full day shift: 10:30 to 4:00pm. Fire up: 10:30 to 1:00pm. Shut down: 1:00pm to 4:00pm.
Spring/Summer/Fall Seasons (End of March to October): Steam Season.
Steam Engine: Full day shift: 7:00am to 5:30pm Fire up: 7:00am to 1:00pm. Shut down shift: 1:00pm to 5:30pm.
Diesel Engine: Full day shift: 10:00 to 5:00pm. Fire up: 10:00 to 1:00pm. Shut down: 1:00pm to 5:00pm.
Requirements / Training etc.
Persons interested in become a locomotive engineer must be 18 years or older. Other requirements may be needed to operate the locomotives.
All locomotive engineers must begin on the Diesel engine. Once engineer is signed off on Diesel and has accumulated enough throttle time, they may begin training on steam locomotives.
